This report explores some of the economic and social consequences of an increasing use of the Internet by Australian farmers. While these impacts have been small to date, they will become more significant as usage grows. The report suggests that Internet services may redirect expenditures away from local businesses, but there could also be benefits through new opportunities resulting from diversification, new types of businesses and improved education and training via the Internet.
