Several viruses are known to cause respiratory disease in horses in other parts of the world, but their existence in Australia has not been investigated. One such virus, equine rhinitis B virus (ERBV previously known as equine rhinovirus type 2) is known to cause significant respiratory disease in other countries. However, its presence in Australia has never been determined.
