American Foulbrood (AFB) is a serious bacterial disease of honeybees in Australia, causing major economic loss to apiarists. Infection is known to occur in a variety of ways including ingestion of contaminated honey or pollen, the interchange of contaminated equipment between colonies and drifting of bees between colonies.
