Cooperative models to encourage smaller producers to enter the carbon market

About the theme

Theme two of the Carbon Initiative Program aims to help understand whether it is practicable and economically viable to establish a carbon farming and carbon markets engagement scheme based on producers:

  • Pooling soil carbon and associated co-benefits contributions as part of a regional cooperative arrangement and selling them through the voluntary market
  • Being able to effectively and rigorously demonstrate they are actively reducing carbon emissions and achieving co-benefits through their carbon farming practices
  • Receiving a premium payment based on their combined carbon sequestration and co-benefits contribution.
