Diarrhoea is a common and potentially serious condition affecting foals, with implications for health, development and survival in the Thoroughbred breeding industry. This project investigated the use of faecal microbiota transplant (FMT) as an alternative treatment, assessing its safety, effectiveness and outcomes in foals with diarrhoea. The findings demonstrate positive clinical outcomes and highlight FMT as a promising, practical option that may reduce reliance on antibiotics and support better foal health. This research provides a foundation for refining treatment protocols and improving disease management in both clinical and on farm settings.
