This report gives case studies of selected new animal industries at various phases of maturity, some of which are now experiencing downturns after excellent initial prospects, due partly to inadequate information banks. A model data collection system is proposed, for adaptation to an emerging animal industry at the earliest stage of development, to provide the vital statistical and logistical information for planning, benchmarking, research and extension.
