Private native forests are a dominant part of the landscape in northeast NSW and their future is a matter of great debate. They are an essential source of supply of building materials to the public, and have historically contributed significantly to regional economic activity. This report demonstrates the use of methods to assess two key sustainability criteria; namely the maintenance of habitat quality and the maintenance of forest timber productivity.
The report should be read by those with an interest in applying habitat and landscape indices for planning and valuation purposes, including wildlife researchers, forest managers, policy makers, stewardship incentive program managers, standards compliance assessors, landowners, educators and researchers.
