This publication investigates the use as vineyard trellis posts of thinnings from plantations of Eucalyptus grandis, E. globulus and E. camaldulensis grown on effluent water. The posts were treated with a safer creosote formulation called pigment emulsified creosote. This report also provides information on post strength, which is of major interest to grape growers due to the high cost of replacing posts broken during mechanical harvesting. A selection of posts has been installed at a winery in Mildura as demonstration to the industry.
